As we continue our Get to Know Our Team series, we want to reintroduce you to Craig Schmitt. Many of you may have seen his original video and know him as an analyst at Porch. He has changed roles and is now playing a vital role on the operations team!

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Craig has always had a knack for helping people and building connections. In his 5+ years at Painted Porch, Craig has made a huge impact by building relationships with clients and serving as a leader internally.
“Internally, I feel like I play a big role in being part of the glue that holds the team together, making sure we’re accountable and doing the best work that we can for our clients. Externally, I feel like I’m a problem solver; The world we live in comes with many challenges and obstacles as we try to figure out how to navigate the financial landscape. I like to believe I can help make it just a little bit easier for people.”
Craig formerly worked in the legal field, where he compassionately supported clients through many major life changes, including divorce and bankruptcy. He found his work in the legal field to be incredibly rewarding, though emotionally demanding at times.
After making the move from the Midwest to Santa Barbara in 2019, Craig discovered an open position at a recently formed financial firm called Painted Porch Advisors. Through a shared love of strong values, hard work, Buddhism, and birds, Craig was one of the first employees hired to the firm in 2020. Craig has been a cornerstone of the team ever since.
Outside of work, when not spending time with his partner Maggie and beloved doggie Tilly, you can find Craig cooking delicious food, playing guitar, and might even catch him doing some improv around Santa Barbara.
