In our last blog post, we started with a confession: we’ve been holding back. Quiet about the work, quiet about the wins, holding back about our vision for an approach to financial planning focused on empowering people to use money in service to a fulfilling life. Maximizing true, enduring happiness rather than just accumulation. Raising expectations of what financial planning means, beyond sales and managing assets, to being a positive impact in our clients’ lives and transforming our community’s relationship with money.
That quiet has a cost. In our last post, we named it. Now, we’re ready to come out from the quiet, help more people, and let the world know we exist.
What it already looks like
The truth is, we’ve already started. Slowly, and probably more slowly than we should have. That said, you may have already noticed that over the past year we’ve shared a lot more, through our blog, on LinkedIn and Instagram, and on YouTube. We’ve launched our ”Get to Know…” videos to give a deeper connection with our team. We’ve shared round table discussions on investment and planning topics. We’ve shared more on our team, community, connection, and the spirit of our work. We’ve also built on our community efforts by adding engaging talks, including our recent partnership with Dr. Diana Hill on her “Tell the Truth” series.
None of it was loud. But it was a start.
What’s next
Next, we want to do more of what is already impactful for all of you, and go further. More community happy hours, deep conversations and supporting voices we feel deeply aligned with, in more places, with more of the people we already care about. More honest writing, like this. More chances for you to see what we actually do, not just hear us describe it.
We’re not trying to become a different kind of firm. We’re trying to stop hiding the one we already are.
Unleashing our community
One of the biggest changes we want to make as we step out of “playing small” is embracing you, our community, to be a part of this movement. We have been overjoyed to see that the impact of our work, and our way of approaching finance and financial planning from a human-first perspective, has made many of you fierce advocates for the Porch and the change we’re trying to bring in this industry.
For those of you who have asked how to introduce the people in your universe to what we do, we wanted to pull back the curtain and give you a quick “Porch Guide” designed to answer frequently asked questions and help you advocate in a way that may feel more natural:
Who fits on the Porch?
- No Asset Minimums: You don’t need to know the scope or complexity of someone’s financial world. We’re here to help regardless.
- The “Life & Money” Mindset: We’re looking for people who understand (or are open to the idea) that money is a tool for happiness and a full life, not just a pile of coins to sit on when they’re 90. They want to be grounded in smart stewardship, but focused on living well and having an impact – on their own lives, the people they love, and the causes that light them up.
- Someone you care about: Friends, family, colleagues, adult children, or aging parents. If you’ve read this far, you’re at the core of our community; if you like them, we probably will too!
- They want a partner: They are looking for genuine help and are ready for a breakthrough—whether they are facing an acute life transition (like a career pivot, business sale, or layoff) or looking for steady, long-term stewardship.
How do we handle introductions?
We know a lot of people have had bad, high-pressure experiences with traditional financial salespeople. We are the exact opposite.
When you introduce someone to us, our Help First values take over. We offer everyone a comprehensive planning experience, completely free, for up to 6 months. No strings, no invoices, no pressure. If we can add massive value to their life, they will feel it naturally. If not, they walk away with a clear roadmap they can execute without us and zero obligation. Everything is handled with absolute confidentiality, care, and discretion.
The best ways to connect us:
If you have someone in mind, you can empower them to act whenever they are ready:
- The Mutual Intro: Connect us via a quick group email or text. Anyone on the team can field your email. Feel free to email your Advisor team, Brian, Dana, or any of us here at the Porch!
- The Digital Pass: Send them a link to our website or one of our recent blog posts to let them explore on their own.
- The Casual Invite: Bring them along to our next Painted Porch community event. They can be as low-key or anonymous as they like!
Other ways to make an impact
If you don’t have someone to refer right now but still want to help us spread the word, the simplest things mean the world to us:
- Engage: Repost or leave a comment on one of our LinkedIn or Instagram posts that resonates.
- Review: Drop us a Google review or share your experience on local message boards.
Please know: this is not a request or an expectation. You are already a vital part of our community just by being here. But it takes a village to change an industry. For us, this is a mission—and we hope this opens the door to bringing more wonderful, intentional humans into the Porch community.
With deep gratitude,
Brian Lloyd Founder & CEO,
Painted Porch Advisors
