While enjoying the intellectual stimulation, he found the substance and human impact of high finance seriously lacking. Leaving New York for Santa Barbara in 2001, he went to work in a coffee shop on State Street, and began coaching youth soccer.
Always trying to navigate the tradeoffs of a life of material success and the need for fulfilment and happiness, he started to explore the possibility of “AND”. What if we can have a world of financial abundance that also supports our sense of mission and purpose in life? This was also the time he officially started on the entrepreneurial path. After starting several different companies with friends, Brian took a position with a small, family-owned financial planning and wealth management firm. He went on to become managing partner and CEO, growing it from a small firm of 5 employees in Santa Barbara to a firm with over 30 employees, 5 offices and over 600 clients and potential clients under their care.
In 2019, Brian formed Painted Porch to go further. Now he’s focused on building a firm dedicated to unleashing the human potential of its team, clients, and community through the alignment of financial wellness with the conditions proven to support enduring happiness.

Dana served two years in the Peace Corps in West Africa. Most recently, Dana worked for ReviveHealth in Santa Barbara and Nashville. He spent more than 8 years working in the operations and technology department at Revive.
Dana loves coaching and playing soccer — he has coached youth club soccer for over 20 years. His favorite sports teams are the SF Giants, SF 49ers, LA Lakers, Nashville Preds, Man U and Leeds United! A native of Denver, Gregg earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Southern California and graduated with honors from Loyola University School of Law. After growing up in a politically active family, Gregg served as the Executive Assistant to a Member of Congress and previously practiced law, specializing in taxation, estate planning, and international business transactions. He is a member of the California Bar Association and volunteers as a judge for the Santa Barbara Teen Court.
As a strong advocate of civic involvement outside of work, Gregg enjoys sharing his time and talent with the arts community, previously as a Trustee of the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, where he chaired the Investment Committee for twelve years, and currently as a Trustee of the Santa Barbara Symphony Endowment Trust.
Gregg’s community engagement has also encompassed education, health care, and substance abuse initiatives, notably as a former board member and past president of the Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, a former board member of VNA Health, and currently as a member of the Investment Committee of Fielding Graduate University.
Forty-year residents of Santa Barbara, Gregg and his partner in the adventure of life, Penny, are avid world travelers, and closer to home enjoy escaping to the wilds and solitude of their ranch in the foothills of the Gaviota Coast.

Kurt grew up outside of Boston, and graduated with honors from Harvard University, with a degree in English literature. He started his career in New York City, first in marketing and then strategic consulting for American Express. He went on to spend the bulk of his career developing and leading sales organizations in the finance and institutional investment space, most recently with JPMorgan. He loved the camaraderie and pace he experienced in the worlds of sales and finance, but oftentimes found that the relationships became too transactional, standing in the way of genuine connection. So, he decided to seek more. Just as the pandemic was beginning, Kurt joined Brian to help grow Painted Porch’s mission and reach. Having spent almost his entire career managing money for institutions — which often entailed being engaged in a zero-sum “battle” against other funds, brokers, and even company management at times – Tim came to Painted Porch with a desire to create positive impact for people. He is passionate about using his skills and doing what he loves to help solve problems for clients, provide more security and balance for them and their families, and help them to achieve their best life.
Tim loves to spend time with his wife Tracy, and their five children. His week is filled with supporting their extracurricular activities and sports (basketball and Friday Night Lights Texas football).
