The Porch

a little over a year ago, my career in the hedge fund world came to a sudden halt. I knew I wanted to do something fulfilling with my time, my experience, my talents. I wanted to positively impact people’s lives

For nearly two years, I’ve been wanting to tell this story. Something has held me back. Fear? Some degree of embarrassment, perhaps? Worried that the stigma associated with financial planning and wealth management would elicit eyerolls?

At Painted Porch, we believe financial wealth’s primary purpose should be in service to self-actualization and enduring happiness. We also see community as a core element on that path. As a commitment to our community, we donate $100 to charity each time we create a new financial plan. Small steps lead to big impact, and we hope our support will help Girls Inc. continue doing the great work they do in our community.

We are honored to announce the addition of three new Porch-dwellers, whose qualifications and character will improve clients’ lives and facilitate our revolutionary model of wealth management.

While we love to talk about life, happiness and self-actualization a lot more than most financial planning firms, we’re still big nerds about financial planning. And today, we’re here to nerd-out just a little bit…and hopefully help a few people in the process!

As 2022 opens us into a new year, many of us are setting goals and reflecting on the lives we had in 2021.

I’ve been reflecting a lot on our first-ever Painted Porch event — and nearly two weeks later, I’m still basking in the glow of all the fun we had!

This is why we are so thrilled to welcome our two newest Porch members, Tim Lindvall and Zach Philipp. It took us a while to find them (and we put them through every pace we could!), and we couldn’t be happier that they’ve decided to hang out on The Porch with us. Each brings a unique and fresh perspective that makes us a more well-rounded firm. And they truly embody our values in a way that they fit right in from Day 1.

One foundational element of our Help First philosophy is our donation of $100 for every financial plan we create. We wanted our first donation to go toward helping our local Santa Barbara community, the place where Painted Porch was born.
